Schlittler worked at the Albuquerque Marriot as a room-service waiter Ilis co-workers describe him as hard working and friendly Information from New Mexico Crimestoppers revealed that Aguero ami Chacon were over heard talking about how they had attempted to steal a car from guy" on a Friday night The informant also heard the two talk in Spanish about how they had to kill the subject to take his car how they had abandoned the car on the freeway when it broke down and how they had dumped the body I in a ditch bank according to a District Court affidavit The informant also overheard thetwo youths talking about the sexual advances the victim had made toward them By JOSHUA COOPER RAMO SuMiaportar The night before he died David Michael Schlittler of Cor-rales pulled up to the drive-through window of a bar and asked for a six-pack of beer Alfred Dow who owns the Bar at 1001 Second St NW was working the window and told Albuquerque police later that he recognized Schlittler 25 as a regular customer Dow also recognized the three young men sitting in 1979 beige Oldsmobile Dow said he had had trouble' with the youths before They had hung around the parking lot throwing rocks and getting into fights according to an affidavit filed in District Court That was the last time Dow saw Schlittler Police say Schlittler was killed June 25 by asphyxiation His bound and gagged body was found two days later in a ditch near Padilla Park in the South Valley His car was abandoned on Interstate 25 Two Mexican nationals Manuel Aguero 17 and Martin Chacon 17 have been charged with one count each of first-degree murder robbery criminal sexual contact kidnapping with great bodily harm and conspiracy in connection with Schlittler's death Police said they are searching for a third suspected youth Aguero and Chacon had been arrested June 25 on charges of creating a public nuisance in a parking lot less than a block from the Bar They were taken to Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center On Wednesday the two pleaded innocent in Court to the charges They are being held without bond in the center Assistant District Attorney Nancy Neary said she plans to request that the two be tried as adults Schlittler's body was found by David Schfittlon Homicide victim men hunting for used aluminum cans A police investigation revealed that Schlittler had made overtures' to three youths on Vidua Law PETR0G1YPH PARK Boys find buried body Two boys hiking north of Petroglyph Park found a skeleton that is being analyzed today by the Office of the Medical Investigator The body which was severely decomposed was in a shallow grave about lVi miles north of the park on the city's West Mesa Albuquerque homicide detective Damon Fay said the body was about 100 yards from a dirt road The boys found it about 12:30 pm Wednesday Fay said a pair of what appeared to be jeans were found on the body Investigators will begin today trying to identity the body GOP CONVENTION Dole will address Republicans identification and recruitment of minority students to enter the teaching profession and to recruit mid-career minority professionals to become teachers CORRUPTION CASE Ramming Mondragon are sentenced SANTA FE The final sentence in the disaster agency corruption case has been handed down: John Ramming will serve four years in prison and Pete Mondragon seven years The sentence ended the two-year appeal process during which die sentences for the two men rose and fell like a roller coaster and traveled from Santa Fe to the UJS Supreme Court resentencing by state District Judge Bruce Kaufman followed the recent decision by the New Mexico Supreme Court refusing to consider the attorney Mondragon request for a review sentence includes three years for a single count of conspiracy and one year as a habitual offender because of a 10-year-old felony embezzlement conviction sentence includes three years for bribery and three years for conspiracy while Kaufman ordered the required one-year habitual offender sentence for each count to be served at the same time for a total of seven years Mondragon could have received an aririfttnnai year as a habitual offender for a fraudulent
