District’s from the Show Me state were thrust into a unique predicament after Tyler Technologies, developers of Tyler SIS 360, abruptly announced in July 2022 the discontinuation of its SIS product provided through a MO DOE state contract. Missouri districts have until the 24-25 school year to implement an alternative Student Information System (SIS) solution. In some states, districts were only given a 1-year notice.
Following the announcement, Focus School Software made a strategic decision to invest in Missouri by building out MO state compliance reporting including special student services for IEP/504 programs. Unlike other SIS solution providers that expand their services beyond the scope of education, Focus only serves public school districts. Focus specializes in serving large districts with its modern and highly configurable software platform, which adheres to data interoperability standards like Ed-Fi.
The investment goes beyond software development. Each project is assigned an entire team to manage the migration of historical data, and provide productivity recommendations that take advantage of new platform capabilities before ultimately implementing identified procedures to district staff. Post-project support includes an assigned Account Executive, Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, annual customization hours, enhancements, user group / conference, and compliance updates.

Focus is currently implementing 3 districts from the greater Kansas City area, and 5 districts from the greater St. Louis area in Missouri.
An IT Director from one of the districts in the Kansas City, Missouri area shared, “We had our project kickoff meeting over the summer. It was the best project kickoff meeting that I have ever been a part of. This company is legit.”
Since 2006, Focus School Software has been a provider of an enterprise-level, student information system serving public school districts with its K-12 SIS and their extended CTE/Adult Ed programs, Special Student Services, and Financial Information Systems. Focus provides its services to many of the country’s largest districts and currently serves 3,000,000 students in AZ, CA, FL, MD, MA, MO, NH, NJ, PA, TX, UT, and WA.
